    Whelpley, Henry. He settled early in Stratford, and soon removed to Fairfield, where he d. in 1662. Inv. £280. On 6 June 1662, the Court ordered £300 to be paid to his widow "of ye estate of her former husband Treadwell," any deficit to be made up out of Whelpley's estate, and £20 as dower; the balance to be divided between Whelpley's children. He m. (2) not long after 1659, ----- -----, widow of John Whitlock. On 30 Nov. 1684, David Whitlock for himself and brothers and sisters receipted to Rebecca widow of Joseph Whelpley for portions, Henry Whelpley dec'd having become responsible for their payment by marrying David's mother. She did not long survive, and he m. (3) about 1661, Sarah, widow of Edward Treadwell, of Hempstead, L. I. She m. (3) about 1663, Ralph Keeler of Norwalk, and (4) Thomas Skidmore of Fairfield. The deeds show that Alexander Knowles, Michael Try, Cornelius Hull, and William Hill, Adm'rs of Henry Whelpley's estate, sold land to Ralph Keeler, who had married Whelpley's widow, and that Ralph Keeler sold it 1664 to Isaac Wheeler.
