With their five children they sailed form Ipswich, Eng., in the "good ship Diligent," April 26, and landed at Boston, August 10, 1638. The only person on board the Diligent, dignified by the title of "Mr.," Henry Smith, brought with him three men and two maid servants and one Thomas Mayer (in what capacity is not stated). Settling at Hingham, Mass., he was one of the first deacons of the church, and Deputy in the Plymouth Council 1641. Removing to Rehoboth, Mass., he died there November 3, 1649.
