Death[5] 17 Jan 1991 Dunbarton, Merrimack County, New Hampshire

The story is told that Helen fell in love with a musician named "Speed" Avery, who, unfortunately, was not liked by her parents. As early as 1926, she wrote love letters to him--and one would imagine he returned her affection. Finally, as she neared 40, she became pregnant and a speedy marriage was arranged. Unhappiness was to be her lot in life as her son died before he was 12, and her husband followed shortly after. Aunt Honey, as she was called, remained alone living in the 1950's house her brother-in-law Leon built for her in happier times. Later the 3 elderly, widowed sisters lived across from each other on Prospect Hill. (Source: Diaries, Letters, Oral History)
