↑ Blodgette and Jewett say that she was daughter or granddaughter of Edward French of Salisbury. His daughter Hannah married, first, in 1662 and would have been much too old to be the mother of Jethro Wheeler's children. French's three granddaughters named Hannah French are accounted for with other husbands [see Hoyt, 1:166-67]. One possibility is Hannah, daughter of Thomas and Mary (Adams) French of Ipswich, born 30 January 1670/71; however, she was thought by Walter Goodwin Davis to have died young [Amos Towne Anc 49].
