    George D. Alexander, 74, of 1534 St. John St., Bristol, TN, passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at home following a long illness. He was born in Lebanon and had lived in the Bristol area for 48 years before moving from Castlewood, Va. He was the son of the late Charlie and Ida Grace Alexander. He was a self-employed house painter and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Glen Alexander. Survivors include: wife, Elsie Austin Alexander; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Daphine Alexander, Bristol, Tenn., Jeannie and Johnny Riley, Bristol, Tenn., and Shirley and Tom Aaron, Calera, Ala.; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Mark and Judy Alexander, Bristol, Va., George Jr. and Nancy Alexander, Bristol, Va., and Dariel and Vicky Alexander, Bristol, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at the graveside in Barker Cemetery, Phillips Community, with Rev. Dennis Burnette officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Riley, Tom Aaron, Johnny Riley and Danny Tate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Weaver Funeral Home or any time at the home, 1534 St. John St., Bristol, Tenn. Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
