Francis Burgess worked for Bellefontaine Cemeter y from1901 until his retirement in 1951. He became a naturalized Americancitizen on Januar y 14, 1906. In 1914, he was one of three students to beawarded the degree of Master of Comme rcial Science from St. LouisUniversity. Francis Burgess succeeded his father-in-law, Walte r L.Graydon, as Superintendent of Interments at Bellefontaine Cemetery. He served as the cemetery's third superintendent from 1925 until 1951, andthey made their home within the cemetery , 4801 West Florrissant Ave., St.Louis. Frank and Irma were unable to have any children of t heir own.Francis Burgess died of cancer, 31 July 1958, in St. Louis.
