Evan "Bud" Charles Davis, 84, of Barron died Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Luther Midelfort Northland Hospital in Barron, Wisconsin. He was born March 25, 1926 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin the son of Morgan and Florence (Blair) Davis. He attended high school in Barron until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of seventeen on March 22, 1944. He served during WWII as a Seaman First Class, and trained as a member of a demolition squad as a frogman. (Today they are the Navy Seals). They were flown from their ships to Italy, France, etc. in the European –African Area Theater. They cleared the beach-heads at Anzio etc., so the infantry could come in and land. He received the European-African Area ribbon (1 star) Victory Medal and the American Area ribbon. He was honorably discharged on May 20, 1946. On February 14, 1948, Bud married Lorraine Zemke. Five children were born to this marriage, 3 sons, 2 daughters. In 1954 Bud and his wife purchased the Barron Distributing Company, Inc. and they both worked there until they sold the business in 1988 and retired. Bud was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., a member of the Barron American Legion, Rice Lake Elks Club, Rice Lake Moose Club, and the Barron Fire Department.

He is survived by; Lorraine Davis (spouse) of Barron, WI, Scott (Kate) Davis (son) of Barron, WI, Bradly (Pam) Davis (son) of Minong, WI, Robert (Bev) Davis (son) of Cameron, WI, Wendy (John Akim) Davis (daughter) of Barron, WI, Laurie (Ted Matthys) Kahl (daughter) of Barron, WI, 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren,

9 step-great-grandchildren Ramona Stodola (sister) of DePere, WI Several nieces, nephews and cousins

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister Bonita Rogstad, and several aunts & uncles.

A celebration of life will be held at Rausch & Steel Funeral Home in Barron on Saturday July 10, 2010 from 2 to 5 PM. An interment of cremains will be at a later date at the Northern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner with military rites accorded by The Barron American Legion Post #212 and VFW Post #8338. Rausch & Steel Funeral Home in Barron handled the arrangements.
