Ethel J. Pelton, 89, formerly of Ozawkie, died Monday, April 19, 2004, at Midland Hospice House.
She was born Jan. 10, 1915, at Bucklin, the daughter of Dan and Clara Winter McDonald.
Ethel and her husband lived in Ozawkie for 35 years before moving to Topeka. After their retirement, they spent many years in Arizona during the winter months.
She worked at the ASC office in Oskaloosa for 17 years and several years at Fleming Food before retiring. She also drove a dump truck for Roy Baker Contractor during the war with several other wives whose husbands worked for Roy Baker.
She was a member of the Kansas State Grange and a member of the Pomona and Pleasant View Grange of Ozawkie for 35 years. She also was a former member of the Top-Kan Twirlers Square Dance Club.
She is survived by her husband, Harold L. Pelton, of the home; two daughters, Vada Adams and her husband, Bill, of Topeka, and Joan Brown and her husband, Don, Meadview, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John McDonald.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 until service hour Saturday morning at Davidson Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka.
