Erma H. Danforth, 95, of Heritage Park Health Care Center, formerly of 110 Chadwick St. and 239 Dunham Ave., W.E., died at 3:25 a.m. Saturday (April 19, 2003) in the nursing home. A Jamestown-area resident since 1926, she was born Oct. 23, 1907, in Lamberton, N.Y., the daughter of Ulla L. and Maude LaMunyon Wardwell. She was the widow of LaVerne L. Danforth, whom she married March 24, 1926, and who died Nov. 16, 1984. She was employed as a clerk by the former Bigelow's Department Store for 25 years. She was a member of Navy Mothers. She is survived by three daughters: Jeanne D. Gourley of Jamestown, Pat Lamphear of Lakewood and Judith Kayner of San Jacinto, Calif.; a son, LaVerne E. Sonny Danforth of West Ellicott; 11 grandchildren: Kathy Gourley and Todd Danforth, both of Jamestown, Robert Gourley of Missouri City, Texas, Cindy Anderson of Matthews, N.C., Susan Best of Westfield, Wendy Gyrylo of Panama, Tim Kayner of Grand Rapids, Mich., David Kayner of Hudsonville, Mich., Michelle Elenbaas of San Jacinto, Master Sgt. Greg Danforth of Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, and LaVerne E. Danforth Jr. of Tallahassee, Fla.; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Thad Wardwell of Tallahassee. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons: Dan Kayner on Sept 25, 1987, and Rusty Danforth on April 20, 1986; a brother, Ulla Wardwell on July 2, 1987; and a sister, Jeanette Burke on March 8, 1982. The Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray, WCA Hospital chaplain, will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. -The (Jamestown, NY) Post Journal 20 April 2003
