"287 Elisha Hurlbut5 (Gideon,4 Nathan,3 Samuel,2 Thomas1) was b. in Wethersfield, Ct., 13 April 1736. … He res. many years in Goshen Ct., and where he d. of pleurisy 17 Feb. 1808. … Mr. H. first settled in the 'Canada' part of Goshen, where he built a house where his ch. were b., but which long since disappeared; it was on the east side of the road opposite the homestead of the late Jeremiah Norton. It is believed that he was a Revolutionary soldier, having enlisted at Woodbury in the same county, his name appearing in Mr. Cothron's History of W., p. 782. I have been told that one of the daughters m. Mr. Standish of Goshen, which one was not stated; perhaps a mistake as they all seem otherwise provided."
