Eli Foote, b. Oct. 30, 1747; m. Oct. 11 1772, Roxanna, oldest dau. of Gen. Andrew and Diana (Hubbard) Ward, of Guilford, Ct.; d. Sept. 8, 1792, in North Carolina. She b. Jan 7, 1751; d. Oct 31, 1840, in Guilford, Ct. He was a man of fine person, polished manners and cultivated taste. He was educated for the bar and practiced a little in Guilford, but eventually became a merchant and traded at the south.
