In 1794 Edmund Tidwell and William Watts were bondsmen for Simeon Tidwell, administrator of the estate of William Tidwell who died intestate in Fairfield County. On Aug. 4, 1797 William Langley of Camden, merchant, deeded land on Wateree to Edmund Tidwell of Fairfield County. Charles Owen Johnson in his Tidwell articles in The Virginia Genealogist has this, "Although it is stated that among the first settlers at Turnbull Creek, Dickson Co., tenn. in the 1790's was Edward (Edmund?) Tidwell, he was named on of the bondsmen for Mary Tidwell, administratrix of the estate of her husband, Robert Tidwell, in Fairfield County in 1806 and on 30 Nov. 1807 he was named administrator of the Robert Tidwell estate, with Francis Tidwell, Sterling Tidwell and Moses Hollis serving as bondsmen. On 3 July 1809 Edmund Tidwell and Moses Hollis received a land grant on Wateree Creek in Fairfield County." 1820 census of Dickson County, Tennessee shows Edmund Tidwell, Sr. to have 2 10-16 males, 1 16-26 male, 1 26-45 male, 1 over 45 male, 1 over 45 female, and 1 slave. Living in Dickson County, Tennessee 020111-00001 Death date may be May 12, 1846 per Janna Johns. References
