Facts and Events
[edit] "The Wayside Inn"The origin of the building which became the "Red Horse Tavern," originally Howe Tavern, and immortalized in Longfellow's poem, The Wayside Inn, are somewhat disputed, some state about 1680. Howe states that it was more accurate to identify the builder of the Inn as David, who constructed it about 1701/2 on land his father gave him on June 4, 1702. Longfellow describes it as "[a] kind of old Hobgoblin Hall, now somewhat fallen to decay, with weather stains upon the wall, and stairways worn, and crazy doors, and creaking and uneven floors..."S3 [edit] Additional Source!(1) History of Framingham, Mass.
