"[11] Daniel Cone, son of Daniel Cone … and Mary Gates, b. in East Haddam, Dec. 26, 1694, … removed to the parish of Millington in the same town in 1732, becoming one of its earliest settlers. Was Lieutenant in the Militia, Justice of the Peace, and held the office of Deacon in the Cong. Ch. for 30 years. … Daniel d. May 27, 1776. His sons Jonah and William were appointed administrators of his estate in his will, which was admitted to probate July 4, 1776, 'Independence Day.'"
