Jule and Charles Fox and friend, Ann Knox, were going to attend midnight mass at St. Peter's R. C. Church.

To do so, they had to leave the other guests at their home for the duration of the service. Food and drink were readily available to one and all.

Jule's brother, Jim Brook, told her and Charles that he thought it was rather impolite to leave all their guests just to attend mass. He asked Charles the reason for his strong desire to attend.

Charles replied: " Jim, there are no atheists in foxholes, and this is a foxhole."
