    Charles Henry Arand

    Charles Henry Arand, son of Bartel(sic) and Sophia nee Doepke, was born on July 28, 1869, in Ottawa, Illinois. He departed from this life December 22nd, at the age of 79 years, four months and 24 days.

    In early infancy he was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Ottawa, Illinois, by Rev. Fruechenicht. In the year 1876 his parents came to Kansas, and located on a farm in Kaw township, where he resided all his life.

    In 1886 he was confirmed by Rev. H.C. Senne in the Alma Lutheran Church and remained a faithful member of the church.

    On October 24, 1907, he was united in holy wedlock to Lena Uhlrig, eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Uhlring.(sic) To this union one son, Lyle Charles was born.

    He is survived by his widow, Lena, his son, Lyle, two grandsons and his brother Fred of Alma, Kansas, several nieces and nephews.

    His health had been failing for the last three years and all was done that loving hands could do.

    Funeral services were held in the Lutheran Church in Kaw, December 26. Rev. C.O. Danitschek, of Ramona, Kansas, officiating. He was laid to rest in Greenwood cemetery. His nephews acted as pallbearers.
