He may be the Cassious Trail (stock man born about 1861 in Raleigh, NC) who later married Emma Boswell, and whose son Johnny Trail was born Jan 1906 in Arkansas^[3]) and/or the Cassious Trail who died in Oklahoma in 1930^[4].

His parents may have been James Trail and Elizabeth Wharton (sister of Johnson Worton/Wharton) as claimed in some trees, which might explain why his daughter Agnes's maiden name was sometimes given as Wharton (and her father's name on her marriage record was given as Johnson).

   It seems a stretch to assign him a baptism in England, but his sister Camille was baptized at the same time, in the same place. The 1860 census shows that the family moved around a lot and had ties to England.
