Benjamin Ely Watson was a businessman and banker, best known for his work at the Grocer's Bank of New York City from 1854 to 1878 — first as notary and then as paying teller.[2] He was also proprietor of the Miner's Store at Sacramento, California, during the first tumultuous years of the California Gold Rush.
