Vandeventer, Barnabus - born 1761 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania; entered service 1778 in Rockingham County, Virginia, in Virginia regiment, substitute for John Miller; moved after Revolutionary War to Greenbrier County, Virginia, then to Preble County, Ohio, where granted Pension in 1832 when resided there at Eaton for 14 years; died Grant County, Indiana 1/4/1851; married 6/1798 to Elizabeth Siler/Syler, Greenbrier County, Virginia who was granted Pension age 73 in Preble County, Ohio in 1851; Christian Siler/Syler made affidavit then there abt. age 67 that soldier & wife were married at home of Christian's father & soldier & wife had large family, eldest of which Christian who was born Summer 1799; Peter Siler, brother of Christian, made affidavit 1851 in Preble County, Ohio that he was born 10/22/1796 & he knew soldier & wife in Greenbrier County, Virginia; soldier's widow granted Bounty Land Warrant #29047 age 77 in Grant County, Indiana, 1855; Joseph Vandevender (no kinship given) made affidavit 1853 in Preble County, Ohio, soldier's widow resided 1865 age 97 in Grant County, Indiana, P.O. Address Marion, Indiana, with her children per notary public Isaac Vandeventer (no kinship given); soldier's surname also spelled Vendevender; query letter in file says soldier's tombstone says soldier died 1/4/1851 age 103 years, 9 months 7 10 days. F-6371, R2444.
