Austin Pelton, fourth son of Josiah, Josiah, John, Samuel, John, born at Portland, Conn., March 10, 1814 [incorrect birth date according to grave marker and census records]; removed to Euclid, O., and to Vermilion, O., with his father; married at Vermilion, August 11, 1834 [Ohio marriage record indicates 12 Aug 1834], Sarah Sturgis, daughter of Frederick Sturgis, formerly of Fairfield, Conn., and Roxbury, Delaware Co., N.Y. (b. March 30, 1790; d. April 29, 1818); Mrs. Sarah Pelton died January 16, 1853; (2) at Sandusky City, O., July 1, 1858, Mrs. Caroline (Durand) Nye, widow of Ebenezer Nye, and daughter of Simeon Durand, of Henrietta, Lorain Co., O. Farmer. Lived at Vermilion, O., and at Berlin Heights, Lorain Co., O. Removed to Kansas November 9, 1885, and died at Ford City, Ford Co., Kan., May 27, 1888 [Grave marker indicates 28 May 1888], at which time his second wife was still living.
