Facts and Events
Note: From Kathleen Gabrielson: "After Peter's death, Anna worked at Hoffman hats on Water Street. She had two suitors, but Ed Sosted brought her presents, so she married him. He was looking for a housekeeper as well. Because she did not want to raise her son, Hugh, as an only child, she and Ed agreed to raise Anna Cosgrove, her niece (daughter of Mary McLaughlin and Michael Cosgrove). They educated her and she went away to WWI as a nurse. When she was killed in France, the government gave the parents $10,000, so a large gravestone was erected in St. Patrick's cemetery. Anna Cosgrove, Anna Sosted, John E. Duffy (infant son of Hugh and Florence) are buried there."
