1930 US Census 9 April 1930 Kings County, New York 443 Sterling Street Anna Greenstein, head of household, Value of her home: $22,000.00 Anna was 45 (1885) on her last birthday, was a widow and married her husband at the age of 17. She was born in Russia, as were her parents. She was able to read and write; she did not work outside the home. She immigrated to the United States in 1910. Before moving to the United States, she spoke Yiddish. She was able to speak English as of April 9, 1930. Living with her were her sons, William, age 26, (1904) single. The census says he was born in the United States but that would be impossible, as his mother arrived in 1910 (according to the Census) and William was born in 1904. William's occupation is listed as an Electrical Contractor. Another son, Murray is listed as being born in New York and is age 23 (1907) as of his last birthday. Murray worked as an electrician. [Murray, born 8 Jan 1908, ss# 051-01-6364, died Dec 1987, Brooklyn, New York. Their sister Mae, was 20 (1910) years old and worked as a bookkeeper in an office. [Mae married David Habor, b. 10 May 1907 and died Nov 1981, ss# 102-28-2844, Beechurst, Queens, NY, -- other addresses---- Flushing, Queens, & Whitestone, Queens.
