    Allen D. Bosworth, 77, Topeka, passed away Friday June 1, 2007, at his home. He was born March 7, 1930, at Topeka, the son of Harry A. and Elsie Rose Krasny Bosworth. He grew up in the Six Mile community south of Topeka, where he lived most of his life. He graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1948. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served two years.

    Allen farmed and was a Boiler Operator at Forbes Air Base and later at the Veterans Administration Center, at Topeka, retiring in 1985. He coached his boys on many ball teams, and was an active leader for Cub and Boy Scouts. He served two terms on the Auburn Washburn Rural School Board, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels at Auburn for many years.

    He was a member of the Auburn United Methodist Church, and the Auburn Lions Club. He was a member of the Harveyville Odd Fellows Lodge, and was currently the District Deputy Grand Master of the Odd Fellows of Kansas. He was a member and past Master of Corinthian Lodge, No. 79, A.F. & A.M., and a member of Temple Chapter No. 26. Royal Arch Mason, both at Burlingame. He was a member and past Patron of the former Corinthian Chapter No. 181, O.E.S., Burlingame, and a member of Fidelity Chapter No. 38, O.E.S., Carbondale, and the Wakarusa Order of Eastern Star. He was a member of Arab Shrine, Topeka.

    Allen married Shirley Davis, September 21, 1952, at Rogers, Arkansas. She survives at the home Other survivors include three sons, Steven Bosworth, Topeka, Daniel Bosworth, Grantville, and David Bosworth, Harveyville; three sisters, Virginia Walker, Kenner, LA, Doris Morris, and Carolyn Post, both of Topeka; two brothers, Jesse, Bosworth, Kansas City, MO, and Jerry Bosworth, Manchester, CN; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2008, at the Auburn United Methodist Church Burial will be in Harveyville Cemetery, where military honors, and Masonic graveside services will be conducted. He will lie in state from 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, to 8:00 p.m. at Carey Funeral Home, Burlingame, where family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

    In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the Allen Bosworth memorial, a fund to be used for scholarship for needy Washburn Rural Graduates, or the Auburn Lions Club, and sent % the funeral home, P.O. Box 196, Burlingame, KS 66413.
