Services for Mrs. Alice Mendez Rivera, 38, Topeka, will be Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Rivera died Thursday in a local hospital. She had cancer.
She was born July 4, 1933 in Topeka and had lived here most of her life.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the GI Forum Auxiliary.
Survivors include her widower, John Rivera; 3 sons, John Rivera II, Andrew Rivera and Edward Rivera, and 2 daughters, Diane Rivera and Patricia Rivera, all of the home.
Other survivors include 9 brothers, Ralph Mendez, Frank Mendez, and Gabino Mendez, all of Topeka, Luis Mendez, Paul Mendez, and Jesse Mendez, all of Indianapolis, Joseph Mendez, serving with the Air Force in Thailand, and Reyes Mendez, Kansas City, Ks.; 6 sisters, Mrs. Theresa Mendez and Mrs., Trinidad Fernandez, both of Indianapolis, Mrs. Christina Doolittle, Rossville, and Mrs. Maria Elena Ball, Martha Mendez and Aurora Mendez, all of Topeka.
Mrs. Rivera will lie in state Sunday at Brennan Funeral Home, where parish rosary will be recited.
