- ↑ In the 1800 Federal census of Bertie County, NC, Charles King Jr. has two daughters aged 10-16. One is Judah and the other would be Alse, so she was born before 1790.
- ↑ In most probate documents, the name is spelled Alse. In one petition of 1826 found in FHL film 1671516 in the file of Charles King Sr., her name is spelled Alecy King (i.e., unmarried). It seems probable that all these spellings are intended to be Alice, after her maternal grandmother, the way Judah was named after the paternal grandmother.
