Alexander C. Brietz was born in Salem, N.C., on 29 May 1839; he was the son of Charles G. Brietz -- his mother (not named) died while Alexander was attending school; A.C. Brietz came to Texas in 1858; he married (2nd) Miss Georgie, daughter of Pinckney Shaw, and they had (in order): Kate, Nettie, Charlie, and Stewart.
