During these years, she continued her motherly duties, responding with the love and care of both a mother and father. She was proud of the boys and supported them in all of their school activities, sports and lifetime accomplishments. Alberta attended and graduated from Stewart's Cosmetology Academy in 1949 and worked in her home beauty shop until 1975. She also worked in the Beauty Shop at Brookside Manor for seventeen years.

She and her sister, Nell, enjoyed many shopping sprees. The grand children and great-grand children loved their visits with Grandma. The hugs and kisses and "I love you's". The daughters-in-law were introduced as her very own.
