Commentary
Item 4 appears to be a description of the will drawn from the executors (Josepy Bready) probate record , and contains slightly different information. In prticular,
- rather than saying his father Hugh was from Wyllysland" it places him in County Down.[1]
- It also notes that he owned land in the Ligonier settlement.
- Most significantly, the will is apparently being probated in Chester County, not Cumberland. Other data seems identical.
What is presumed to have occurred is that the original executors, sons William and Hugh, declined to serve, or were unable to serve, and John Montgomery and Joseph Brady were appointed executor by the estate, and administration of the estate was transferred to Chester County. Presumably this is where the majority of the heirs were living at te time.
Footnotes
- ↑ Wyllysland is presumably in County Down, but has not yet been located.
