WILL of Matthias Houshill deceased-
In the name of God Amen, I Matthias Houshill Sr, of the Township of Amwell, County of Hunterdon, and State of New Jersey, being aged and weak in body but of sound mind and memory, blessed be Almighty God, for the Same. Do make and publish this my last WILL and TESTAMENT in manner and form following, that is to say;
FIRST
I give and bequeath unto Anne my beloved wife the sum of ____ dollars to be paid to her in twenty days after my decease. I further give and bequeath unto my wife, one bedstead, one featherbed and other bedding complete thereunto belonging, also one table, six chairs one looking glass, my large cup board with what it contains at the time of my decease, and also one milk cow. And in addition to the above mentioned articles, I owe and bequeath unto my said wife, to the amount of twenty dollars of my household and kitchen furniture of such articles as she shall choose, and to be taken at the price said articles are appraised at.
SECOND
I do WILL and ORDAIN that my executors, hereafter named as, sell all my ___(herronal?) estate as soon as may be after my decease, except the articles above mentioned and the amount of twenty dollars as aforesaid given and bequeathed unto my wife. I do further WILL and ORDAIN, that my executors do sell all my real estate at such time and in such manner and on such credit as in their judgement shall be most conducive to the interest of the parties concerned here by authorizing my executors to give a deed and conveyance or deeds and conveyances to the purchaser or purchasers as they care, may require, and by way of advice. I do recommend it to my executors not to be precipitate of disposing of the landed property, herein directed to be sold if from temporary causes, the sale of lands should be dealt at the time of my decease
THIRD
I bequeath unto my executors and the survivor of them their executors and administrators, the sum of one thousand and five hundred dollars, Entrust ____ _____, to place the same as interest, and to pay the interest thereof coming due annually to my wife Anne during her life; And until the said annuity can be raised from the interest of the aforesaid one thousand and five hundred dollars, I do order and direct my executors to pay the said annuity being one hundred and five dollars out of the money arising from the sale of my personal estate; all which several gifts bequests and annuity are to be considered in lieu of her my said wife's rights ______. My WILL further is, that after the decease of my wife Anne, as soon as may be, the principal sum to wit, the aforesaid one thousand five hundred dollars and such interest as may not have been laid over be collected in, and the whole equally divided among my children or the representatives of them, share and share alike, that is the representatives or grand children, to tak the portion of share of their father or mother equally among them.
FOURTH
I do further WILL and order, that of the money arising from the sale of my estate, that my executors pay all my debts and funeral charges.
FIFTH
I give and bequeath unto my grandson James Covert, the son of Bergan Covert and my daughter Anne, the sum of forty dollars, to be placed at interest by my executors and the principle and interest to be paid to the said James Covert when he arrives to the age of twenty one years.
SIXTH
All the rest residue and remainder of my estate of whatever it consists not heretofore disposed of in this my last Will and Testament, I do order and direct my executors or the survivor of them to divide into five equal parts or shares, and do give and bequeath the same as follows, to my son and daughters namely Jacob Houshill, Agnes Salter, Anne Covert and Mary Case four shares, one to each of them. To my grandson and granddaughter namely William Houshill and Ann Woolverton, the son and daughter of my son John Houshill deceased, one share to be equally divided between them. And if it so happens that any of the persons to whom I have given a Legacy should die before such case, my WILL is that the heirs of the deceased shall notwithstanding have the benefit of the bequest in the same manner as if he or she was actually living at the time.
AND LASTLY I hereby nominate and appoint John Lequear and Jacob Williamson my brother in Law and also my brother in law Abraham Williamson of Amwell, executors of this my last WILL and Testament. In Witness where of I have here unto set my hand and seal this first day of August in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and eleven 1811.
Signed Sealed Published and Delivered by the above named Matthias Houshill. Said to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who have here unto subscribed our names as witness in the presence of the Testator - Nathaniel Higgins, James Sutphin and Abraham Sutphin.

Hunterdon County: James S Sutphin one of the witnesses to the within will, being duly sworn did depose and say that he saw Matthias Houshal, the testator therein named, sign and seal the same and heard him publish pronounce and declare the within writing to be his last will and testament and at the doing thereof, the said testator was of sound and discerning(?) mind and memory as far as this deponent knows and as he verily believes, and that Nathaniel Higgins and Abraham R. Sutphin, the other subscribing witnesses were present at the same time and signed their names as witnesses together with this deponent in the presence of the said testator.

Sworn at Flemington, this 10th day of April AD 1818 before me Joseph Bounell Surrogate in Hunterdon County, John Lequear and Jacob Williamson two of the executors in the within testament named did depose and say that the within instrument contained the true last will and testament of Matthias Houshill the testator therein seamed, so far as they know and as they verily believe that they will well and truly perform the same by paying first the debts of the said deceased, and then the Legacies of the said testament _____, so far as the goods and chattels and credits of the said deceased can ___ unto _____, and that they will make and exhibit unto the Surrogates office at Flemington a _____ Perfect Inventory of all and _____ the goods and chattels and credits of the said deceased that however shall come to their knowledge or inspection, or to the ______tion of any other person or persons for their uses and render a first and true account when Inventory is fully received.

I Joseph Bounell surrogate of the County of Hunterdon, do hereby certify the ____ to be a true copy of the Last WILL and Testament of Matthias Houshil late of the County of Hunterdon deceased and that John Lequear and Jacob Williamson of the County of Hunterdon, two of the executors therein named proved the same for me and are duly authorized to take upon themselves the administration of the estate of the Testator agreeably to the said Will.
Witness my hand and seal of office this tenth day of April in the year of our LORD one thousand eight hundred and eighteen.
