Image Information
Photo was in the collection of Vernon R. Kill and was sent to RC Apr 2017 by his daughter, Vera. On the back is written, "Laddona, Alice Gale." RC believes photo also includes the children's great-grandmother, Melissa Carpenter Louth. All the children are grandchildren of Samuel and Nettie Savidge, who is Melissa's daughter, and RC believes that the photo was taken on the farm of Samuel and Nettie as it was a regular gathering spot per RC's grandmother, Violet Reynolds Ashton. The oldest toddler would be Alice Kill (1924-2000), daughter of Mildred Savidge and Richard Kill; then Gail Reynolds (1925-2004), youngest son of Gladys Savidge and Edward Reynolds. When Gail was a toddler he was stricken with polio and crippled for life. He is seated in a chair which leaves RC to believe this photo was taken after he became crippled. LaDonna Savidge (1926-2013) was the daughter of William "Leo" Savidge and is probably the child directly in front of Melissa. At the time RC wrote these notes, she believes the old woman is Melissa whom Violet recalled lived with them for a time then moving in town (Spencerville) after she returned to the area after a period of living away with family.
