Image Information
Baptised "Frances Elizabeth Curtin" 1895, she was the 1st infant to be given by the Priest the unique distinction of namesake after St. Francis at the newly-opened Saint Francis DeSales Church, NYC, NY. But my Grandmother and her parents Laurence CURTIN & Mary HEARLIHEY CURTIN rejected that name in favor of Lillian. One of the leading actresses of the era was Lillian GISH, who they evidently admired. Decades later, in the 1960's, this informal name change presented a problem for her when she tried to collect Social Security benefits and was unable to verify her ID without her Baptismal Certificate and H.S. record from Washington Irving H.S., NYC, NY. --OliviaRevits 18:32, 2 May 2007 (MDT) File historyLegend: (cur) = this is the current file, (del) = delete
