Oil on canvas Notes: PROVENANCE: Private collection, Georgetown, Washington, D.C. (Note: above collector had ancestors that lived in North and South Carolina and related to present owner that he and his family were certain that the portrait was of Francis Davenport, one of his ancestors, and that Davenport enticed Hudson to paint his portrait in England while he was visiting on business matters.)
