Image Information
In her written recollections about her father, Zechariah Ashton, Laura Jane Ashton Vail (Mrs. Charles L. Vail) referred to the Mary DeLarn Creek. The Marie DeLarme stream flows into the Maumee River and is part of the Maumee Watershed which flows to Lake Erie. "Father’s farm was on the Maumee River, and the Mary DeLarn Creek also run through the farm. Father built a mill on the creek and ground corn for meal, and wheat for flour. It was patronized a great deal as there was no mill nearer than Defiance, which is 20 miles, and at [that] time there were no bridges across the river and no road to get there."
