Eight members of this family died throughout 1747. The cause is not yet discovered by the editor, a descendant of one of the survivors. Disease seems most probable, striking the mother and newborn first. Haverhill is a rivertown on the Merrimack which flows downstream from Indian villages near present day Nashua, NH. The year falls into the period of the King George's War when the Anglo-French conflict increased conflict between native American tribes and the British colonies in America.
