Deed 28 Jun 1673 Thomas Canney voids two deeds, one in 1669 to son Joseph and wife Mary, second in a deed acknowledged in 1670 to "his present wife Mary". Then he redeeds to his son Joseph with no wife mentioned. Jane Canney is the only grandchild mentioned in the will of Job Clements in 1682. The conclusion is that all other children [first born in 1674] belong to the third wife with the second wife Mary having died sometime before 28 Jun 1673. That the third wife is Mary Dam is shown by 1687 will of John Dam of Dover mentioning daughter Mary Cane, there being "no other Canney with a wife Mary, excepting Joseph".
