Changes to Surname pages

Hi Andrew! thanks for correcting my typo. You should know I added the same link and info to the other surnames you reference on your site, in case you'd like to add more info and your User Name link to those pages as well. I did this as part of the "cleaning up website links on WeRelate" project that is an extension of the source renaming project. My assignment was to scroll through the list of websites on We Relate and put sites that are surname-related as links on the appropriate surname pages...

Brenda, thanks for that. I converted the link to a template and have updated each surname page to include the template for consistency.--nastrond 22:48, 6 October 2009 (EDT)

Shall I also send you the pages that I come across that are Australia related? If you are working on a research guide for Australia, they might be useful to add as links?--Brenda (kennebec1) 12:48, 5 October 2009 (EDT)

Yes please --nastrond 22:48, 6 October 2009 (EDT)

Person and Family page titles [25 January 2010]

Hello, I am a volunteer admin here at WeRelate. I noticed that you have many pages that have dashes in the title (they can be found from this search). These dashes cause problems for our search and category functions. Please take some time to rename these pages, substituting Unknown for the dashes, and edit the given and surname fields as appropriate. A sample of this can be found at Person:Unknown Anderson (113). Let me know if you have any questions, thank you!--Jennifer (JBS66) 11:09, 18 January 2010 (EST)

Hi Jennifer, will do thanks. nastrond 20:43, 24 January 2010 (EST)
Thank you! I began renaming a few pages such as Family:Thomas Watson and -- -- -- -- (2) to Family:Thomas Watson and Unknown (1). The dashes in both the name fields and within the title itself causes problems. So, I rename them as well as edit the page to remove them.
Also, on pages such as Person:-- -- -- -- (96), I would suggest that you may want to delete them. They don't really serve a purpose as they are essentially empty. That approach would be similar to how this page looks: Family:Alexander McErvale and Unknown (1), Unknown wife in the title, and no wife listed within the page. --Jennifer (JBS66) 07:42, 25 January 2010 (EST)

Random Changes [25 March 2014]

Hi Markus,

I note you are just randomly changing pages that I contributed. Can you explain the initiative that is driving these random changes or are you imposing your standards across other contributors records?

This complete lack of control in WeRelate to who can alter an individuals contributions is appalling.

Andrew 09:35, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello, Andrew ! I distroyed nothing. Which pages have now a problem ? I want just clean up some records that have repetitions or completely useless information. What do you mean exactly with "random changes" ? I really want to impose nothing and "my" standards. WeRelate is a wiki ! Everyone can contribute, complete and fix the records. For 3 weeks, I simply :
  • delete every line saying "record change" (with a date) --> completely useless --> 1) The date of the last modification appears at the bottom of each page. 2) Each page has a special page "History". --> These are the advantages and the typical comfort of a wiki site.
  • fix/modify line saying "killed in action" on a place field.
Please, can you better explain your "anger" or "disagreement" ! I have also to say that no "chief/administrator" had alerted me for these 3 weeks ! And you are the first contributor who ... "protests".
Excuse please my very bad english ! Thank you ! Amicalement - Marc ROUSSEL - --Markus3 10:26, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
