De Quintal Baptista De Quintal

My great grandfather's name was Joao Baptista de Quintal. He immigrated from Madeira to the Hawaiian Islands in the late 1800s. When his ship arrived in Honolulu he changed is name to the anglicized, John Q. Baptist. If you do not know this and your are a Baptist try to trace your lineage in Hawaii, it will hit a brick wall aroung 1885.
