Volume 1. The first of two volumes, covering six wapentakes (Gilling West, Gilling East, Hang West, Hang East, Hallikeld and Ryedale) in the western half of the North Riding. It includes an account of the borough of Richmond.
Volume 2. Describes five wapentakes (Birdforth, Bulmer, Langbaurgh (west and east), Pickering Lythe, mainly in the north and east of the North Riding. It includes accounts of the borough of Scarborough and the liberty of Whitby, as well as the North Yorkshire moors and parts of Cleveland.

These two volumes appear to cover the whole of the North Riding of Yorkshire.
