Usage Tips

A History of the Discovery of Maine is the first volume in the multi-volume Documentary History of the State of Maine, published by the Maine Historical Society. The first volume in this series was edited by William Willis. The actual essay by J. G. Kohl is entitled, A History of the Discovery of the East Coast of North America, particularly the Coast of Maine; from the Northmen in 990 to the Charter of Gilbert in 1578. An appendix, entitled On the Voyages of the Cabots, by M. D'Avezac, is also included. Microfilm may be ordered through the nearest Family History Center.
