History of the Blackers is traced to 10th century Ireland, including descendants of Captain Valentine Blakcer (1597-1677) of the County of Armagh, Ireland.

The name Blacker comes from Blackaire who was of Norse descent. Descendants of this Blackaire or Blckar settled in County Armagh near a large rock which came to be known as Carrickblacker.
