PersonNoteResearch Needs
Person:William Huston (4) Settled on Catfish RunGiven their proximity to each other, William, and James are probably closely related. James is known to have come to the area from Cumberland County. William could conceivably be his father, brother, or cousin. William is known to have been in the area prior to 1774. James would not have been an adult at that time, and so could have been a younger brother. William is known to have had a son James, and it is likely that the james who took up the warrant on Catfish Run is his son. The James of Catfish Run sold his property shortly after it was surveyed. He may be James (4) the Revolutionary War Veteran, or mayhave left the area. Dion Huston has suggested that he may be a James Huston who settled about 1790 in Mercer County to the North. At the moment we are assumiong that James (4) is in fact the son of William, but this could change.

John Huston 1785 1788 Warrantee C-335 (?) Chartier Township
Index number for survey is not correct. patent index for this parcel indicates parcel known by "Target". Warranted 6 Dec 1785, surveyed, 15 Apr 1788, returned 20 May 1788. Original Record is P12-472
Need additional data.

Joseph Houston Warrant in 1784 patent in 1836 to Samuel Stokley, on Moseley's Run, a branch of Wheelers Creek, Called Huston's Delight, Fayette County,
David Heuston 1786 1786 Warrantee C75-79 Buffalo Township, waters of Buffalo Creek, Called "Mount Rock". This property is actually on the far western edge of Donegal Township
William Huston Secured a warrant for land in trust for Martha Jolly Sr, on the waters of Wheeling Creek in Finley Township. This is possibly the same person as person:William Huston (4); this needs to be confirmed. We also need to know why he was securing property for Martha Jolly. Possibly he was her guardian, which may imply a family relationship between the Houston's and the Jolly's. That in turn may lead to information about the identity of this William, and if he is indeed William (4)

James Houston 1785 1791 John Wolfe C74_151 Mountours Run,Tract known as "Wolffs Tract"; Allegheny County (NE of Modern Washington County, in Moon Township, near modern Pittsburgh International Airport) Warrant Map Allegheny County. This parcel is considerably distant from the other Washington County warrants. James is unlikely to be related to the Houston's in closer proximity to each other in modern Washington County. Though knowing his connection (if any) to other Houston's in Old Chester might be of use, there is minimal research need at the moment.
