Sowood is a village in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England. It is 4.5 miles (7.2 km) south of Halifax, 4 miles (6.4 km) north-west of Huddersfield and 2.5 miles (4.0 km) south-west of Elland.

Sowood is one of the highest places in Calderdale, standing at 280 metres (920 ft) above sea level. The main road that passes through the village is the B6112, which links the village with Stainland, Greetland, and Outlane. It is very close to the border between Calderdale and Kirklees.
