Garriston (#16 on map) is now a civil parish and a hamlet northeast of Leyburn in the Richmondshire District of North Yorkshire, England. In 2015, North Yorkshire County Council estimated the population at 20. At the 2011 census the population was also less than 100 and data was included with that for the parish of West Hauxwell (#31).

Prior to the nationwide municipal reorganization of 1974, Garriston was located in Leyburn Rural District. Historically, it was part of the ancient and ecclesiastical parish of East Hauxwell (or Hauxwell) (#12) in the Hang West Wapentake.

The area of the parish of Hauxwell was 3,850 acres, and divided into its townships East Hauxwell: 1,250 acres, West Hauxwell: 900 acres, Barden: 1,780 acres and Garriston: 670 acres.
