Allerton Mauleverer with Hopperton is a civil parish in the Harrogate District of North Yorkshire, England. The parish lies just 5 miles east of the town Knaresborough. The A1(M)motorway runs through the area connecting London and Edinburgh. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 130.

The parish includes the hamlets of Allerton Mauleverer and Hopperton.

Allerton Mauleverer

A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Allerton Mauleverer from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"ALLERTON-MAULEVERER, a township and a parish in Knaresborough district, [West Riding of] Yorkshire. The township includes Hopperton; and lies on an affluent of the Nidd, at the Allerton [railway] station, 4½ miles ENE of Knaresborough. Acres: 2,300. Real property: £3,639. Population: 283. Houses: 55. The parish includes also the township of Clareton. Post Town, Whixley under York. The property is all in one estate. It belonged anciently to the family of Mauleverer; passed to Lord Galloway; and was sold, since 1785, to successively the Duke of York, Colonel Thornton, and Lord Stourton.

The name Allerton Mauleverer originally meant "Aelfweard's farm/settlement" and referred to the farm held by the Mauleverer family in the 12th century.

Hopperton

The hamlet is situated close to the A59 road, the A1(M) motorway and the A168 road. Cattal railway station is situated just under two miles from the village with services to Leeds, York and Harrogate. The nearest towns are Knaresborough (4 miles) and Wetherby (5 miles).

Historically, Allerton Mauleverer was an ecclesiastical parish in the Upper division of the Claro Wapentake. From 1894 until 1938, Allerton Mauleverer with Hopperton was located in Great Ouseburn Rural District and from 1938 until 1974 in Nidderdale Rural District. In 1974 the area became part of the Harrogate District of North Yorkshire.
