I am removing both sets of parents listed here: Family:John Smith and Dorothy Unknown (1) and Family:John Smith and Unknown (29). According to the information on the pages, neither father is old enough to have a son born about 1610, and given that a marriage is recorded for Lawrence 17 Dec 1633 in parish registers of St. Chad's Church in Rochedale (The Second Boat, 1991, p. 19, which appears to be confirmed by an IGI record from FHL film 1545748: Bishop's transcripts for St. Chad's Church, Rochdale), abt. 1610 seems very likely as a birth date.

Savage says that Lawrence is possibly the son of quarter-master John Smith, but they appear to be nearly the same age (various birth estimates which may or may not be right, but first marriage about 1631). Further Lawrence is not listed in the passenger list when John Smith immigrated, and there is no sign of his heirs in John Smith's will. --Jrich 23:29, 16 June 2012 (EDT)
