death location [12 March 2012]

Hello Bronquest, I am wondering about the death location for Johannes. The page states Philadelphia,NLD but it links to Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Did Johannes immigrate to the U.S. and die in Philadelphia? --Jennifer (JBS66) 18:52, 11 March 2012 (EDT)

hello Jennifer, You are right, this family member emigrated to the USA. I remember linking Philly in the US to the Philadelphia NLD mentioned in the gedcom. (somehow I haven't grasped the right way to get the countries in the gedcom right. 99% is Netherlands, but not everything, especially not in the Offerhaus family and related to them (Germany, US, Canada, Indonesia, India, Brazil).--Bronquest 14:05, 12 March 2012 (EDT)

I edited the page so that Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States appears rather than Philadelphia, NLD. The gedcom place matcher works by taking the place as it is described in your gedcom and linking it to WR's place page (ie Philadelphia, NLD|Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States). So, changing the NLD to United States would need to occur within your home genealogy software. What program do you use? I know many have a global search and replace function, so that you can change a place like Philadelphia, NLD>Philadelphia, United States only once in your program, and it will edit each instance of that text. The other option is that when you upload a gedcom, you can right click on the place and choose "what links here". Then you can edit each Person/Family with that location. This would only be recommended if you had a small number of edits to make. --Jennifer (JBS66) 14:18, 12 March 2012 (EDT)
