William H. Seward, 81, one of Rutland's oldest citizens, died yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock at his home, 34 North Main street, after a short illness. Mr. Seward was born in Mendon and had made his home in that town and Rutland all of his life. Besides his wife, Mrs. Katherine Sheridan Seward, he is survived by a daughter Mrs. Joseph Hitzel, two sons William L, and Francis J. Seward of this city and two brothers, Henry E. Seward of Rutland and Ira F. Seward of Fair Haven. Mr. Seward was a member of Church of Christ the King, where the funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock. The burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Poster's note: William Seward was 82 years, 5 months and 22 days old per death certificate Rutland City clerks book 93, pages 413-414. His parents were Horace Seward and Augusta Sargent. Horace Seward died 3-20-1905 at the age of 80 years, book 31 page 143, and Augusta died 5-7-1903 age 72 book 19 page 142.
