Lomax, William D.,  Civil War Vet---- farmer, son of John and Nancy Howard Lomax of Kentucky; was born in Indian Point township, Knox Co., Ill., Oct 08, 1837. His parents settled in that township in 1834. His early life was spent on the farm. He enlisted as private in the late civil war, in Co K, 55th Ill. Vol., in 1861, and by meritorious conduct was promoted to the office of Captain. He removed from the farm to Abingdon in 1866, and served as Postmaster there until 1873, when he returned to the farm; was married Dec. 08, 1864. and has 3 sons and 2 daughters.
