Facts and Events
Name William Hughes
Gender Male
Marriage to Elizabeth Keyte

William Hughes' origins have yet to be established. His only confirmed sighting is the baptism of his daughter, Sarah Maria, in 1858 at Bledington in Warwickshire. Sarah's mother, Elizabeth Keyte, was described as his wife, although their marriage has yet to be found. At the time of Sarah's baptism, William was described as being the station master of the Chipping Norton Junction Railway Station. This station (now called Kingham) is actually just over the county boundary into Oxfordshire.

Elizabeth and Sarah appear in the 1861 census living with her parents at Evesham, and she described herself as a widow. One possibility is that William was the William Hughes who died in 1859 in the Chipping Norton district of Oxfordshire, as this district covered the railway on which he worked.
