Hays, William, born Virginia, moved at about age 11 to Botetourt County, Virginia, where he entered service in 1781; moved from Washington County, Virginia to Pulaski County, Kentucky, where he received Pension in 1832, age 77-78; died there 8/13/1838; married 1783 Elizabeth Lemon, Henry County, Kentucky (Note: Familysearch says Henry County, VA), who died 2/16/1843 Pulaski County, Kentucky, leaving children: Lovina/Levina wife of William Menefee, Elizabeth wife of Chrysalia Yanders/Yonders, Margaret wife of Matthew Hardin, Isaac, Rachel wife of Thomas Ruork/Ruarch, & William; son William applied for pension 1844 there for self & surviving siblings; Pension application rejected, soldier's widow did not apply for pension, hence children not eligible per current law.
